The Annabelle Cleeland Euroa Cup has taken place in Benalla for the second consecutive year, with High Torque running out to be the clear winner in beautiful conditions.
Nationals Member for Euroa Annabelle Cleeland, who sponsors the event, said it was pleasing to have local events like the Euroa Cup draw big crowds and lots of community support.
“It’s great to see so many people out and about and enjoying this great community event,” Ms Cleeland said.
“The Benalla Racing Club has supported the hosting of the Euroa Cup for a long time and the local community definitely reciprocates that support.
“I want to extend a special thanks to Benalla Racing Club’s Cameron Symes, Tony Smith, Gwen Turner, and the entire committee for always showcasing such excellent events.
“Congratulations to Seymour trainer, Dean Glass and his team for taking out the cup with the winner, High Torque.”
Ms Cleeland encouraged locals to support upcoming Benalla Racing Club meets and get behind regional businesses.
“Central Victoria is the home of thoroughbred breeding and racing and there’s no denying the importance it has for our local tourism,” Ms Cleeland said.
“We’re lucky to have regular meets and quality facilities in our own backyard.
“Whether it be racing, a market, or dining out, I encourage everyone in our region to explore what the North-East and Central Victoria have to offer and support our local economies.”
