The Benalla Street Art Festival has concluded after a three-day event full of walking tours, art classes, workshops, and live music.
The festival, curated by Eddie Zammit, featured talented artists from the local community, across the country, and overseas, including Adnate, Aurora Campbell, and Gus Leunig, in a celebration of arts, culture, and creativity.
The Nationals’ Member for Euroa, Annabelle Cleeland, attended the festival on Friday – meeting with artists and touring some of the newly painted murals in town.
“This festival has helped shape Benalla as a hub for art in regional Victoria, with its incredible street art and murals becoming a real drawcard for the town,” Ms Cleeland said.
“It’s more than just a celebration of art – the festival brings visitors to the region, supports local jobs, and gives a real boost to our local economy. Last year’s festival saw over 50,000 visitors make their way to the region, with even more people attending this year.
“It was great to see people from right across the country walking our streets, eating at our cafés, and staying locally – events like this make such a difference to the prosperity of our regional communities.”
Ms Cleeland said Benalla continues to position itself as a regional leader when it comes to creative industries by hosting events like this.
“Benalla already has so much to be proud of when it comes to arts and culture – from our world class gallery and short film festival to the amazing displays at the visitor centre. This festival adds even more colour and energy to that mix,” Ms Cleeland said.
“There was a real buzz around town, and it’s a great time to be in Benalla as we continue to grow our reputation as one of regional Victoria’s most creative and vibrant destinations.”
Official events were scheduled throughout the weekend for the festival, with several more exciting fringe events being held at local establishments across town too.
