As part of Sunday’s ‘Rural Women’s Day’, Nationals Member for Euroa Annabelle Cleeland has expressed her support for the remarkable women in our country towns.
Ms Cleeland attended a Rural Women’s Day function in Nagambie on Friday, joining some of the region’s most outstanding women for a day of celebration, empowerment, and recognition.
“There are so many extraordinary women in our regional communities, and its fantastic to see them celebrated this Rural Women’s Day,” Ms Cleeland said.
“These are business owners, vets, winemakers, landscape architects, photographers, marketing execs, CEOs, economists, copywriters, stud principals, firefighters, nurses, mothers, friends, and farmers.
“These are women who champion each other and make calls to check in because they understand that life in rural areas is relentless, but relentlessly rewarding.”
Rural Women’s Day is a relatively new initiative, having launched in 2019 as a community-led, not-for-profit event. Since then, it has gone from strength to strength with events now held right across Australia.
“Having a day to celebrate together provides a platform to support and encourage women in regional communities to connect with each other,” Ms Cleeland.
“I look forward to many more of these days in the future.”
