Member for Euroa, Annabelle Cleeland MP, is encouraging local residents to take advantage of free blind safety kits available through Consumer Affairs Victoria to help prevent serious accidents in the home.
The kits include ten plastic safety devices, screws and easy-to-follow instructions to help secure blind and curtain cords.
“Unsecured blind and curtain cords are a serious safety risk and can have devastating consequences for young children,” Ms Cleeland said.
“Tragically, these hazards contribute to the deaths of up to two Australian children each year. Securing cords is a simple step that can make a life-saving difference.”

Support is also available for those who may not have internet access, with assistance offered through Ms Cleeland’s electorate office at 25 Bridge St Benalla, where staff can help complete the request.
“Home safety is something we should all take seriously,” Ms Cleeland said.
“I encourage families across our region with blinds or curtains to take advantage of this free kit and help keep children safe in their homes.”
