Seymour-based disability provider Goulburn Options will be showcasing the talent of their GO ART studio arts program at a pop-up show at the Tastes of the Goulburn festival later this month.
Nationals Member for Euroa Annabelle Cleeland recently dropped into a GO ART session where local artists were preparing for the art show.
“It was an absolute joy meeting so many of the artists and seeing the wonderful work that Goulburn Options and the GO ART program are doing,” Ms Cleeland said.
“I was lucky enough to meet with them before their show last year as well, and I know this will once again be an event for the whole community to get behind.
“I encourage everyone to get to the show and see the comics of Capetwin, the abstract trees of Kath Sidebottom, Robbie Wales’ artworks of the iconic Seymour landscape, Lucinda Donnelly’s vibrant colours, Kez Poke’s beautiful watercolours, and Leonie Nunn’s woodworking and screen-printed bags, along with many more exciting pieces.”
The GO ART program offers a welcoming environment where people with disabilities can express their individuality and share their personal interests through artmaking.
The studio staff support participants to explore a range of different mediums and artmaking techniques.
Artists are given regular opportunities to exhibit and sell their artworks in the community and promote their inclusion in the mainstream art world.
For artists that want to develop their artmaking further, the program can also help build professional pathways to increase opportunities and build their profile as emerging artists.
90 per cent of all sales from the pop-up show will go to the artist, with the remaining 10 per cent going back into the GO ART program. This year will also feature a special fundraiser with $30 canvas bags made by the artists on sale to raise money for new art supplies.
The GO ART pop-up art show will be held from 10am-4pm on Friday, April 27 at 16-18 Station Street, Seymour as part of the Tastes of the Goulburn festival.
