Member for Euroa Annabelle Cleeland has congratulated winners of citizenship awards across the electorate after a successful day of Australia Day celebrations.
Ms Cleeland said shining a light on the achievements of volunteers in the community remains an important part of the day’s festivities.
“This Australia Day we have seen so many selfless local heroes recognised for their amazing work in their communities,” Ms Cleeland said.
“So many people work without thanks to make our region an incredible place to live. It’s great to recognise a handful of these for their work.
“From Young to Senior Citizens of the Year there are so many ordinary people doing extraordinary things in their communities.
“I’d like to add my wholehearted thanks to all award recipients for their example and inspiration,”
Ms Cleeland said the Australia Day focus of ‘Reflect. Respect. Celebrate.’, was a fitting description of the occasion.
“Australia Day means something different to everyone but it’s an opportunity to reflect on shared history and celebrate what makes our country and region the best place in the world to live,” Ms Cleeland said.
“Right across regional Victoria the sense of community on show at local events is something to be valued and appreciated.
“After an incredibly challenging few years, it’s clear people are looking forward to a much better year ahead.”
