The Nationals’ Member for Euroa, Annabelle Cleeland, has encouraged local community groups and organisations within the Benalla area to apply for a new round of council grants that will help with hosting events and activities.
The third round of Benalla Rural City Council’s Social Connection Grants is open for applications now until Friday, January 24.
Ms Cleeland said the grants would make it easier for local groups to host events and activities that would benefit the entire community.
“Our local community groups are doing such incredible things in town already, and grants like this give them well deserved support to give even more back to the community.
“Whether it be the local U3A hosting programs that improve the health and wellbeing of elderly residents or the Lions Club engaging with students by hosting public speaking competitions, there are so many ways our local community groups are bringing people together.
“I look forward to seeing the excellent events and activities that our community groups put forward, all of which I’m sure will be extremely deserving of this grant funding.”
Community groups, schools, kindergartens and not-for-profit organisations can apply for grants of up to $1,500 to support a range of initiatives.
In addition to the general Social Connection Grants, there is also dedicated funding available specifically for First Nations activities and projects, to help support cultural events and initiatives.
