Speaking from Parliament, The Nationals Member for Euroa, Annabelle Cleeland, has called on people to come from far and wide to attend the Seymour Alternative Farming Expo, held at Kings Park from 31 March to 2 April at Kings Park.
Ms Cleeland said the community had rallied together to ensure the event could go ahead after the floods of October last year.
“Seymour has been incredibly resilient over the past six months. The October floods had a significant impact on the community, so it is inspiring to see the town open its gates to tourism again,” Ms Cleeland said.
“Kings Park was underwater in October. Everyone involved has done a sensational job getting the precinct back open and up and running.”
Ms Cleeland encouraged everyone to stop in at her site and say hello to her and her National Party colleagues.
“I will be manning my marquee and having a helping hand from the members for Shepparton (Kim O’Keefe), Murray Plains (Peter Walsh), Lowan (Emma Kealy), and Ovens Valley (Tim McCurdy) as well as the federal member for Nicholls (Sam Birrell),” Ms Cleeland said.
“It is a lovely opportunity to come and say hi to us and have a chat.”
The Seymour Expo will provide a welcome boost to the Seymour region.
“The expo is the biggest weekend of the year for the community,” Ms Cleeland said.
“After last year’s devastating floods the town cannot wait to welcome everyone back for what I know will be a bumper expo.
“Even if it is just a day trip, get to Seymour, grab a coffee at one of the amazing cafes, browse the main streets, spend some time at the expo and finish the day with a meal or drink in town.”
Ms Cleeland said it was pleasing to see large regional events occurring across the state.
“The expo follows the Benalla Airshow over the weekend, which attracted thousands of attendees to the region,” Ms Cleeland said.
“It was amazing to see the community handle a large-scale event with such ease.
“I look forward to supporting my electorate and growing the region to be a tourist destination.”
