Dear Minister Thomas,
I am writing in support of our regional healthcare providers, and I say, “hands off our hospitals.”
I am extremely concerned about the forced mergers of our local hospitals and the inadequate funding from the State Government. Current funding barely covers wages and basic expenses, leaving our hospitals unable to replace outdated equipment or recruit necessary staff.
We do not want our local providers absorbed into a large network of hospitals that have no relevance to our community. Our hospitals are a source of pride, a major employer, and ensure that locals receive high-quality treatment without traveling long distances.
We have full confidence in our local services to continue providing excellent healthcare. We believe that local people are best placed to support our local needs, and we stand with those who defend our local healthcare services to ensure they remain local.
I wholeheartedly oppose these mergers and support the right of our local hospitals to operate independently, preserving our local skills, knowledge, and care.
