Euroa Arboretum to boost native seed production and training opportunities

I’m pleased to share that the Euroa Arboretum will receive $900,000 to expand its vital work protecting and restoring Victoria’s native landscapes.

This funding follows three years of advocacy and budget submissions since I was elected, consistently pressing the case for proper investment in the Arboretum’s work and its role in regional conservation.

The grant will allow the Arboretum to expand seed production areas across the Goulburn Broken Catchment, ensuring a sustainable supply of native seed for revegetation and restoration projects. It will also fund a new, upgraded seedbank, doubling storage and processing capacity, along with mechanical harvesting equipment to improve efficiency and safety.

The project includes training opportunities for Taungurung and Yorta Yorta Traditional Owners in seed collection and management, supporting connection to Country and involvement in caring for local landscapes.

I’ve been proud to work with the Euroa Arboretum and to advocate for its work. I know firsthand the enormous contribution it makes to conservation, research and our local community, and I’m committed to continuing that partnership.
