Funding of up to $150,000 is now available for Victorian organisations that help break down structural barriers to good health as part of the Growing Healthy Communities grants.
Applications are now open from a total funding pool of $4 million for innovative ideas that push the envelope to create better, fairer health outcomes for Victoria’s young people and their families.
The grants aim to increase access to healthy, local food and create opportunities for active play, recreation, sport, and art, as well as making places and spaces more culturally safe.
This includes programs such as community gardens, creative spaces and innovative ideas that push the boundaries of local spaces.
The Nationals’ Member for Euroa, Annabelle Cleeland, encouraged local organisations to apply.
“Growing Healthier Communities grants will empower the Euroa region by enhancing access to healthy food and nurturing meaningful social connections for a vibrant and healthy future,” Ms Cleeland said.
“Many regional Victorians and their families face structural barriers to good health. These barriers can be more significant for people from communities facing disadvantage.
“Community organisations play a critical role in driving positive health outcomes and I look forward to seeing how these grants can support their important work.”
Beyond the grant funding, there will also be facilitated capability building for grant recipients by connecting them with like-minded leaders, sharing valuable tips, and ensuring everyone has the tools, training, and support they need.
Sporting, community, cultural, recreational, creative, local councils, and other not-for-profit organisations are eligible to apply.
Funding guidelines are now available at Growing Healthy Communities Grants with applications opening on Wednesday 3 July and closing 31 July.
Successful recipients will be advised in December 2024.Funding guidelines are now available at https://www.vichealth.vic.gov.au/funding/growing-healthy-communities-grants
