The Nationals Member for Euroa, Annabelle Cleeland, has congratulated Heathcote Estate after its 2023 Shiraz was selected as one of just 12 finalist wines showcased at Victoria’s Premier’s Trophy Wine Awards at Parliament House.
Ms Cleeland attended the event on 16 June and said it was fantastic to see a Heathcote winery recognised among the very best wines in Victoria.
“To be selected as one of only 12 finalists from across the state is an incredible achievement and a real credit to the team at Heathcote Estate,” Ms Cleeland said.
“Heathcote has built a reputation as one of Australia’s premier Shiraz regions, and it was wonderful to see that quality recognised on such a significant stage.”
Ms Cleeland also paid tribute to the Victorian Wine Show Committee and the local volunteers whose work helps make the awards possible each year.
“I want to acknowledge Secretary John Beresford, Deputy Chairman Geoff Shenfield, Ron Holden, Bruce Anderson and Lindsay Brown for the enormous contribution they make to promoting Victorian wine and supporting these prestigious awards,” she said.
“These events rely on passionate volunteers who give their time and expertise to champion an industry that is so important to regional Victoria.”
Ms Cleeland said the event was an important opportunity to showcase the quality of regional Victorian wine to decision-makers and visitors from across the state.
“Our wineries not only produce exceptional wines, but support local jobs, attract visitors and make a significant contribution to regional economies.”
“When people think of premium Shiraz, Heathcote deserves to be part of that conversation, and achievements like this continue to strengthen that reputation.”
