The Nationals’ Member for Euroa, Annabelle Cleeland, is encouraging local volunteer groups to apply for Victorian Landcare Grants.
The 2025 Victorian Landcare Grants aim to improve local parks, waterways and reserves so Victorians can continue to experience the best of our great outdoors.
It allows community groups to get outside and enjoy the great outdoors while learning about and improving the local environment.
Project grants of up to $20,000 are available to environmental volunteer groups, including Landcare groups and networks, Friends groups, Conservation Management Networks, Committees of Management, Coastcare groups and First Nations groups.
The grants will help to protect and grow our natural environment and native species, making our parks more vibrant and beautiful for Victorians to get out and enjoy.
“These grants offer an excellent chance for our local environmental volunteers to create meaningful change in our communities,” Ms Cleeland said.
“By backing hands-on projects and fostering community involvement, we can improve our parks, waterways, and reserves for the enjoyment of future generations.”
The news comes as Landcare groups gathered for a showcase at Parliament House this week, with Queens Hall being transformed into a leafy green haven.
Ms Cleeland attended the showcase, meeting with local group Gecko CLaN who participated in the event.
“As a regional MP I understand the vital role Landcare plays in promoting sustainable land management practices, improving biodiversity, and enhancing the health of our local ecosystems,” Ms Cleeland said.
“Being able to welcome them to Parliament was an incredible privilege and I look forward to seeing the incredible work that can be achieved through these grants.”
Recipients can use the grants under the following categories:
- on-ground works such as revegetation, artificial habitat creation, weed control, pest plant and animal control, protective fencing, and soil stabilisation
- community education and engagement activities such as property planning courses, field days, education events, demonstration sites and knowledge-gathering (e.g. surveys)
- group/network development activities such as developing a strategic plan, succession planning, and expanding the volunteer base
Applications for the Victorian Landcare Grants close on 16 April 2025. For more information and to apply, visit environment.vic.gov.au/grants.
