Letter to the Editor – Australia Day

As we approach Australia Day, I want to wish everyone across the Euroa electorate a very happy and safe long weekend.

Australia Day is a chance to come together, reflect on our history, and celebrate the values that make our country what it is. It is a day to be proud to be Australian. Proud of our resilience, our fairness, our mateship, and the strong sense of community that defines life in regional Victoria.

The long weekend is also a great opportunity to enjoy what our region has to offer. Whether it is a walk along a local track, time by the lake, or a barbecue with family and friends, these simple moments are a reminder of how fortunate we are to live in such connected and welcoming communities.

Australia Day invites us to reflect on the diversity and achievements of our nation, and on the shared values that bind us together. Respect for one another, inclusion, and a willingness to look out for our neighbours are part of who we are, and they matter now more than ever.

I hope this Australia Day gives everyone the chance to slow down, spend time with the people they love, and take pride in our country and our community. There is so much to be proud of, and this day is an opportunity to celebrate what it truly means to be Australian.
