Our region’s vibrant hospitality industry was in the spotlight during the recent sitting week of Parliament, as I took the opportunity to highlight some of our area’s finest pubs.
It was wonderful to see both the Redesdale Hotel and the Tooborac Hotel and Brewery featured in a national “best bush pub” list, a recognition that places them among Australia’s most iconic watering holes.
While these two are award winners, every town in our region boasts a unique pub offering a great meal, a cold drink, and a warm welcome.
Pubs are more than just places to grab a pint and a parma—they are essential to the social and economic fabric of our country towns.
They employ locals, attract tourists, showcase the best of our region’s produce, and often hold the stories of our community’s past within their walls.
Many of these establishments have stood for over a century and remain vital gathering places for residents to share a laugh and connect.
During my speech in Parliament, I shared a few examples of our region’s standout pubs, from Benalla’s Northo and Royal to the family-friendly White Hart in Longwood and Violet Town’s Ellen Frances Hotel.
There’s the historic Seven Creeks Hotel in Euroa, the Top and Bottom pubs in Broadford, Kilmore’s Royal Oak, and so many more, including the Tatong Tavern, Nagambie Lakes Hotel, and the Colbo Hotel.
Our local pubs are at the heart of our communities, each offering something special.
Whether it’s their incredible history, live music, or simply being a place where locals can gather, these establishments deserve our continued support and celebration.
If you haven’t already, I encourage everyone to explore these wonderful venues, enjoy their hospitality, and keep supporting the businesses that make our towns so special.
