Christmas in our part of the world does not always mean a pause. For many, it is harvest, work that does not stop, long shifts or time away from home. Even so, it is a moment to reflect, reconnect, and remember the strength that comes from community.
As the year draws to a close, it is also a time to hold close the values that define us as Australians. Looking out for one another, respecting our differences, and protecting the way of life we are proud to pass on to the next generation matters, particularly when our country faces real challenges.
I want to thank the volunteers, emergency service workers, health professionals, retail staff and others who continue working through the festive period to keep our communities safe and running. Your dedication at this time of year does not go unnoticed.
To our local families, community groups, businesses and farmers, thank you for the contribution you make every day to the strength and character of our region.
On behalf of my family and my office, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a safe, happy New Year.
