Nationals Member for Euroa Annabelle Cleeland has praised the Benalla Street Art Festival, saying the event was a welcome return to the region after a five-year hiatus.
The festival, curated by Eddie Zammit, has featured talented Australian and international artists in a week-long celebration of arts, culture, and creativity. The festival was accompanied by a wide range of events, including live music, cinema screenings, immersive art experiences, workshops, exhibitions, and more.
While visiting different exhibitions last week alongside Benalla Rural City Mayor Danny Claridge, Ms Cleeland said the festival was one of many reasons why Benalla’s arts and culture scene continues to thrive.
“This festival has been instrumental in creating the street art and murals that surround Benalla and I’m thrilled that it has returned to our community this year,” Ms Cleeland said.
“Not only is the festival a brilliant opportunity to bring visitors to our region, but it also supports local jobs and boosts the local economy.
“The festival adds to an already thriving art and culture scene in Benalla, which is home to a top-shelf art gallery, an ever-growing short film festival, and incredible art on display at our visitor centre.
“It’s an exciting time to be in Benalla as it continues to stand out as one of the most vibrant arts destinations in regional Victoria.”
